Moms Like Me

One of the exciting parts of the Moms Like Me feature will be the chance for us to meet many other Christian moms! I hope as you get to know these amazing women, you will be encouraged and challenged in your role as a mom.
Our first featured mom is Barb Wagner. She currently lives in Pensacola, FL and is the proud mother of 26 year old, Ashley.
*What were your favorite activities with your daughter?
We loved to sing! We also enjoyed crafts (sewing, art projects). We loved homeschooling together.
*What are YOUR personal hobbies?
Reading, crossword puzzles, sewing
* What have you found to be the most rewarding aspect of mothering?
Watching Ashley find her passion/calling as a child and then grow it into profession as an adult.
* What have you found to be the most challenging aspect of mothering?
Letting her go. Having the "empty nest" is excruciating. I am so thrilled that she is happy in her marriage, but not seeing her in person for over a year at a time is very tough.
* What advice would you like to share with other moms?
When I thought Ashley would never sleep through the night or that I felt like I was never alone, I remember older mothers telling me how quickly she would be grown and gone. They were sages. Someone said to me recently that when we are raising our children the days last forever but the years go by in an instant. How true!
* How do you find time to cultivate your own personal relationship with the Lord?
That can be tough. By growing your child's walk with the Lord, she will often challenge you more than anyone else. Even if we have to pray into our apron like Susannah Wesley, we have to find that time to pray.
*Is there anything else about yourself that you would like to share?
I honestly believe that my greatest purpose in life has been having and raising Ashley. I will die happy if I remembered as nothing more than Ashley's mom.
