Thankful Thursday: Patience

"Mommy?" "Yes?" "Mommy?" "Yes?" "Mommy?" "Yes, Jacob?" "Mommy...."

This is an hourly conversation that happens at my house between myself and my 2 year old. I find myself often getting frustrated with the repetitiveness of it all.

It's said that "patience is a virtue" and I often pray for more patience. I am thankful for those times when I can demonstrate patience towards others. I find it especially important to demonstrate patience to my children and am thankful for the days when I can answer question after question while maintaining a calm tone.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Galatians 5:22-23)

Where can you demonstrate patience in your daily life?

I would have to say with my children and with other drivers on the highway! Some times I think I am in a hurry and I am not.

Blessings,
Jeanie

There are many times I have to pray for patience. Especially with the children. I have three children and some days it is difficult. Then I just think about how patient Jesus has been with me. It really helps keep things in perspective.

Ahhh!!! Yes, I too am VERY familiar with this conversation. It seems that I am drawn into conversations like this with my 6 & 3 year olds during my prayer time! I have to ask God to not let me scream at them while I'm praying! Am I the only one that struggles with impatience while I'm supposed to be talking with God about impatience?! Crazy I know. Thanks for the reminder today. As I clean closets and iron today, I will keep the Fruit of the Spirit ever before me.

My 2 year old just started the same conversation. Half the time he doesn't even know why he wants to talk to me, he just feels the need to call may name over and over. and over and over again, lol.

oh! We have this same conversation continually with my 2 y.o. as well! Drive me bonkers and is so hard to be patient! One thing that has helped me is to pretend he is saying "I love you" whenever he says my name. He doesn't say "I love you" yet but I know he does love me so it has helped me be more patient.
