Thankful Thursday: Uplifting Music

Today I am thankful for uplifting music. The other day I was having a rough day... probably the worst day I've had since my mom passed away. Every hour it seemed something else went wrong and by the end of the day I was in tears. After spending time in prayer I turned to YouTube and Casting Crowns. There is one song whose words touch me even in the hardest of times and that song is "Praise You In This Storm". I listened to the song repeatedly, crying and quietly singing the words out loud. Over and over again I sang the words until my soft whimpers turned into strong convicting words.
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No Matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
(Full lyrics are here. YouTube video is here.)

Good Morning Alicia,
I can't imagine my life without my Mom. What a difficult journey this must be for you. I'm so glad the Lord has provided you with a song to help.
I too have been down difficult roads. One that continues to help is Ginny Owens, "If You Want Me To" - my favorite line in the lyrics is:
So if all of these trials bring me closer to You
I will go through the fire
If You want me to
Praying for you this week!
Your sis in the faith,
Penny
Casting Crowns has pulled me through some rough times too. Thank you for sharing your struggles too.
I keep youtube on at my desk throughout my work day. I have a playlist titled "inpirational songs" and Casting Crowns is on it! :-)
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I am such a music person, Praise You In this Storm, is such a great song. I love Revelation too by 3rd Day.
Thanks for your post!
Another great song, which helped me through a very rough time, is Mercy Me's, "Jesus Bring the Rain".
You can find it on youtube, and the lyrics are here: http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/bring-the-rain-lyrics-mercyme/68ea6452f51b8ea94825716a00130cc6
Be blessed!
I have quite a few songs that have helped me through rough spots.
The latest has been "He Is" by Mark Schultz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1dElIkD3hU
Praying for you!
Omgoodness, yes! This is one of my all-time fav songs!!!! I just melt everytime I hear it! In fact, when I saw the title mentioned as I was reading, I just subconsciously threw my hand up to my heart...I just love it so much! Songs just speak to our hearts, don't they? SO glad you had that to uplift you when you needed it!
That is an excellent song! Mercy Me--Bring the rain and TJ Mauldin Band--There is a City both speak to me because of their references to pain and suffering, which I have been dealing with for a LONG time. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. The first song reminds me that it IS for HIS glory. The second reminds me that one day I will be in a place where pain and sorrow do NOT exist! Music is NOT only a way for us to praise and honor Him, but, also a gift to us FROM Him!
I am with you on the music!!! Music makes my day and the right song puts me in the right frame of mind. I lost my mama to cancer 6 years ago and there are so many songs that make me cry and so many songs that help me! Music is such a gift to me!!!
