Jesus Has A Rocking Chair

Yesterday at church, I was reminded that Saturday, January 22 was the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.  I am not here to judge.  My story may be similar to some.

My husband and I lost a baby eighteen years ago.  It was a tubal pregnancy.  That week we went from elation to be devastation, so quickly.  I had pain, found out I was pregnant and we were excited.  But I knew something was wrong.  I had pain.  Quickly, I found out that my numbers were not tripling, but going down.  Not a good sign.  We ended up in the hospital, having a laparscopy.  But, in the middle of that God was already at work.  When my fallopian tube burst, my bowel came over and covered the area that had burst.  I believe to this day that God's hand was there guiding my body to do what it had to to keep me alive.  My tube burst on Thursday evening.  I had read all the pamphlets and knew that the sharp pain in my shoulder meant that.  But by the time I got the hospital, the pain was gone.  The doctor really didn't do anything, but told me to see my regular OB-GYN the next day.  I did and that's when I ended up at the hospital.

So I ended up with a c-section cut, but no baby.  We were saddened that this baby would never be part of this world.  We couldn't see, touch or hear him/her.  We have to wait until we get to heaven.  It was hard, but Mike and I realized that this was God's will.  We honestly didn't talk much about it, but we seemed to just accept this and move on.  Some people were amazed at our attitude.  They were surprised by our reaction and how we talked so candidly about everything.  But our faith in God got us through because we realized this child wasn't meant to be.  For those of you who have lost a baby due to complications, illness or any reason, may this song be a comfort to you.

Jesus Has a Rocking Chair

Many hopeful moms and dads, try to have a child of their own.
Some never get the chance, others do and see them grown.
Still there are those who are expecting that precious baby soon,
But then it's gone before it ever leaves the safety of it's momma's womb.

Jesus has a rocking chair.
And He holds that precious baby with oh, such tender care.
He takes the place of mom and dad,
He's the greatest parent a child can have.
Don't worry about the children there,
Jesus has a rocking chair.

There are those who have a boy or girl, a lovely gift from God.
But illness or a tragedy takes them from their parent's arms.
Mommas wish for days going by,
Daddys long for that lost child.
But children are not lost when you know where they are.

She eighteen and not married, expecting her little one.
In a  time of confusion, she took the life of her son.
Since the, Jesus forgave her, and He took all her sins away.
She still cries missing her baby, but she hears the angels say...

Jesus has a rocking chair.

And He holds that precious baby with oh, such tender care.
He takes the place of mom and dad,
He's the greatest parent a child can have.
Don't worry about the children there,
Jesus has a rocking chair.

I hope those of you who have been in this place, find comfort knowing that Jesus is there taking care of your little one.  God bless you.

A Thankful Moment

This is the season to be thankful. With Thanksgiving done and Christmas on the way, i find myself trying to teach my children the real meaning of it all. I can see that the social world has played a big part in what they think its all about. So it was time to take a lesson in Thanksgiving and we will do the same for Christmas.

We started a new tradition with the children the night before. Explaining the reason for Thanksgiving, what started it all, how God plays a part in it and how to truly be thankful.
We learned about the Pilgrims, Squanto, harvesting and Plymouth rock. We learned verses that talked about being thankful and how important it is to tell God thanks everyday. We read a book all about prayer called, My Thanksgiving Prayer. Learning how family's pray and letting the kids learn a way all for themselves was special. I think the best thing of it all was seeing verses that spoke about thankfulness.

Some of the verses we learned were;
Colossians 3:15 (NAS)And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
*being thankful for having Christ a part of your life is number one.*

Colossians 4:2 (NAS)Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NAS)
in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.Knowing Christ and making him apart of our lives has made such a difference. Knowing the true meaning about Thanksgiving made it even more splendid. I hope you all had a wonderful blessed Holiday. From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Dealing With It

First, let me apologize for this post being so late. I have been so excited about being able to post more than once an month and BOOM! The first chance I get, I blow it. Thank goodness, as I was driving to work this morning, I was going over my mental to-do list and it hit me. Was my Seeds post today or tomorrow? Oops! I think it was today. Man! I blew that all to pieces.

Well I have been trying to talk about missions the world over, and my next blog on here will be about that. But as I was trying to figure out what I could talk about in the interim, I want to tell you what is happening at our church. The devil is trying to devour us Christians, and we aren't standing for it!

I have a friend, whom I have known about 35 years. Her family started coming to church and we have grown up together. We really weren't friends as kids, because she is older and as children and teens go, four to six years of age difference is a lot of maturity time. But as young women, we have done what Christian sisters do, support each other. She got married, had kids, went to another church, came back. I got married, had kids, stayed at the same church. We both enjoyed church camp and being able to help kids. We both are very musically involved, she plays the piano wonderfully and I sing, so we have lots in common.

But since June, her world has been turned upside down. Her husband has been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and terrible things wrong with his spine. Her youngest child is six and she is now the sole bread winner in her household. I can relate to the cancer element of her stress but not exactly, because it was my dad last year who had Stage 3 cancer. Anyway, in the past month, her husband is so close to remission that they are now going to start testing to see if they can use his bone marrow to replace some of the bad.

So tomorrow my friend and her husband are driving from Ohio down to Florida to do the testing because the stupid insurance company won't do it here anywhere. She says if she has to be somewhere else during the holdiays, it might has well be somewhere warm. It's going to be a long couple days in a car, but I think the stress of leaving her family here is harder.

The past few Sundays at church have been very emotional for a lot of us. Our minister's family is going through a lot of medical problems, and it seems that every song that is sung is picked out and every word spoken, has a personal message for someone. The Lord is alive and well at our church. He is using all kinds of people, songs and messages to touch our lives.

Lately, my friend has not been able to sit through a service without her emotions getting the best of her. She says that at home, work, anywhere else she is fine. But she gets to church and the waterworks start. I think that is because she is busy and able to push a lot of her emotions out of the way. Then when she comes to church, she is quiet, listening and God starts relieving the stress and pent-up feelings. She is reminded that he loves her, that no matter what, she needs to focus on Him and remember that God loves her and he does know what is going on and he will be with them through this ordeal. He won't be through it until it gets good or bad, but he will see the family all the way through.

When we are busy dealing with the plans and details of our lives, it is easy to not worry about the emotions. We worry about everyone else. She is worried about their children, her husband, work, schedules, and can easily not deal openly with how her life has taken a frightening turn. The anger, denial, frustration, and hopelessness can all be pushed down until that moment you stop and take a moment for yourself. That's when your defenses come down, you allow your heart to break and you think about all that is happening. It could be good or bad and you have no control nor do you know the outcome. That is when faith and trust comes in. Trust God knows it all, what you are feeling, how you are dealing, and what will happen. Your faith may waiver under the weight of it all, but stand firm on your knees. God wants to hear it from you. He wants you to express your self to him. Besides, talking to someone always makes us feel better, doesn't it?

This always makes me think of Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
