Lifting You Up - Missionary fields

You are now entering the mission field.
You can't see the from the outside of the building. You can only see them as you leave the church. Our minister wanted to emphasize that no matter what you do, as a Christian, you are on a mission field. Whether it be in your backyard, at work, or at a restaurant, we are there to help our fellow man. We are there to be servants for others, to spread the good news, be fishers of men. You don't have to spend your life on foreign soil. You don't have to learn a new language, and you don't have to travel far. God can use you right where you are. It may be for the old, cranky neighbor. It may be for that co-worker who needs a shoulder to cry on. It maybe for your friend who is going through something. God wants you on the mission field.
I use to think that it was very noble to be a missionary. I still think it is. But I also realize it is I who needs to put myself out there and do God's bidding when the need arises. To lend a hand, to pray for someone, to be me. That's what Jesus did. Missions starts at home and travels all over. I hope that you can see that giving a cup of cold water in Jesus' name will be the only way some lost soul comes in contact with him.
I have lots of friends who go on mission trips and are missionaries. I hope to introduce you to some in the near future, as well as highlight some good mission works that people have started. I pray that you will remember that each time you live the church, you are entering the mission field.
